Sway – Dean Martin

Sway – Dean Martin

First recorded in 1954 by Dean Martin, this popular ‘bolero-mambo’ first became known to me as in it’s Shaft form – the 90’s electro-pop remix is the version other’s will have grown up with too 🙂 It’s also been covered my Michael Buble and The Pussycat Dolls. It’s a really catchy, upbeat melody, a great one for beginners on any instrument 🙂

A               F-A-F          A – F       Bb     A    G
When Marimba Rhythms start to play

Bb            A      G         A       G       F
Dance with me, make me sway

F      D   F-D    F-D     G      F        E
Like a lazy ocean hugs the shore

G          F         E         F       C      D
Hold me close, sway me more

A       F      A-F       A-F     Bb    A      G
Like a flower bending in the breeze

Bb         A       G        A       G        F
Bend with me, sway with ease

F             D         F        D        F    D    G     F      E
When we dance you have a way with me

G           F       E        F        C      D
Stay with me, sway with me

D – E         F – E        D    E    E    F      G
Other dancers may be on the floor

E           F     G      A      B   ^C  ^D-A  ^C
Dear, but my eyes will see only you

A-B    ^C     B      A   ^C#-^C#     A-^C#
Only you have the magic technique

B     ^C#  ^D#  ^C#  B  ^E
When we sway I go weak…

A    F     A      F       A      F    Bb-A-G
I can hear the sounds of violins

Bb         A-G    A    G-F
Long before it begins

F          D        F      D    F-D     G      F        E
Make me thrill as only you know how

G          F           E              F      C      D
Sway me smooth, sway me now..!
