Yesterday Once More – The Carpenters

Untitled

I’m not sure how I missed “Yesterday Once More”, one of my favourite Carpenters songs and such a lovely song to play.

Not too tricky either, so another good one for beginners. Enjoy playing the letter notes 🙂

D        D    E       F#
When I was young

A    A-F#  A   F#  B-A-F#
I’d listen to the radio

F#-A        B    ^C#     F#-A      B
Waitin’ for my favourite songs

F#           A          B    ^F#  ^E  ^D-^C#
When they played I’d sing along

A     F#    A     F#-E
It made me smile…

D              D        E       F#-A      A
Those were such happy times

F#     A    F#   B    A-F#
And not so long ago

F      A       B-^C#         F#         A          B
How I wondered where they’d gone

^C#      ^E   ^D   ^C#-B
But they’re back again

^C#  ^D ^C#  ^D ^C#   B
Just like a long lost friend

B    ^C#  ^D  ^D   B  ^D  ^E
All the songs I love so well

^D-^E  ^F#-^F#-^F#-^F#
Every sha-la-la-la

^E-^D ^C#-^D ^C#-B
Every woah woah

F#    F#-A
Still shines…

^D-^E  ^F#-^F#-^F#-^F#-^F#
Every shing-a-ling-a-ling

^E    ^D  ^C#-^D ^C#  B
That they started to sing

F# F#-A
So fine…

B        ^C#  ^D ^C# ^D ^E
When they get to the part

^D         ^C#   ^D-^C#   ^D  ^E
Where he’s breaking her heart

^D ^E ^F#-^F# ^E ^D A-B
It can really make my cry

F#    F#   B-F#-A
Just like before

F#      F#-E-D      E      F#-G-E
It’s yesterday once more…
