KellyI am learning to play the keyboard and I was wondering what this symbol “^” means in front of a note, I see it on the sheet music on here. Can anyone tell me what this “^” means.

Hi Kelly, thanks for asking and sorry for any confusion!
All it means is to play the note in the higher octave – the idea was to make it clearer if the note is a lower (.C) medium (C) or higher (^C) in octave.
If you imagine a keyboard, i’ve labelled the letters like this:
.G .A .B C D E F G A B ^C ^D ^E
< --low--|-----mid-----|--high-->I hope that helps to clarify a bit, i’d love any ideas or suggestions about how i can make it clearer for everyone to use ๐ ๐ Perhaps i need to turn that mini keyboard above into a real pic..?!
Anyway, any ideas or questions, let me know ๐

MaryOn actual sheet music, that symbol is a marcato, which means to play with emphasis. It is similar to an accent. However, on notes (not sheet music) it means the higher octave.
