A very popular song originally released by Canadian singer Leonard Cohen in 1984, "Hallelujah" has since lead to countless covers and re-imaginations - it even appeared in the 2001 animated musical film Shrek!

A lovely slow and easy tune to play, a great one for beginners to practice playing. Enjoy!

Did you know?!  Some of the artists to cover Hallelujah include Jeff Buckley, John Cale, Alexandra Burke, Pentatonix, Bob Dylan, Regina Spektor, Bon Jovi, Justin Timberlake, Willie Nelson, Lindsey Stirling and Susan Boyle.

G          G        G          G        G    G    A-A     A
Now I've heard there was a secret chord

E           G-G         G        G    A       E         E        A
That David played and it pleased the Lord

A         A       A       A-A       A    G     G-F     G     E
But you don't really care for music, do you?

G     G       G     G      G       A          A      B
It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth

B    ^C-^C  ^C   ^C  ^D-^C ^D
The minor fall, the major lift

^C  ^D-^D   ^D   ^D-^D-^D  ^E-^D-^D-^C
The baffled king composing "Hallelujah"...

E-G-A-A       A-G-E-E
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

E-G-A-A      A-G-E-D-C
Hallelujah, Hallelujah ~

G           G       G          G       G     G       A - A        A
Your faith was strong but you needed proof

E         G     G       G-G     A    E       E
You saw her bathing on the roof

A        A - A      A      A      A  -  G          G - F - G      E
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you

G        G      G    G  G    A - A      B
She tied you to a kitchen chair

B        ^C     ^C        ^C      ^C     ^C   ^D   ^C  ^D
She broke your throne and she cut your hair

^C     ^D  ^D    ^D  ^D   ^D   ^D   ^E-^D-^D-^C
And from your lips she drew the "Hallelujah"

E-G-A-A      A-G-E-E
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

E-G-A-A       A-G-E-D
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

E-G-A-A         A-G-E-E
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

E-G-A-A      A-G-E-D-C
Hallelujah, Hallelujah ~
