Rudolph first appeared in a children's colouring book in 1939 which was published by Montgomery Ward, a Chicago-based department store, which handed out the free books to children each Christmas. The song then followed in 1949 :)

Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer

Had a very shiny nose

And if you ever saw him,
G Â Â Â Â Â A Â Â Â Â G-A Â Â GÂ Â AÂ Â Â E
You would even say it glows!

All of the other reindeer
G Â Â Â Â Â A Â Â Â G Â Â Â A Â Â GÂ Â Â ^C Â Â Â B
Used to laugh and call him names

Play in any reindeer games.

"Rudolph with your nose so bright

Won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"
G Â Â Â Â Â A Â Â G Â Â E Â -Â ^C Â Â Â A Â Â Â G
Then all the reindeer loved him

You'll go down in history!"
